Kazakh film ‘Mergen’ to take part in prestigious festival in Canada

Kazakh film “Mergen” will take part in one of the most prestigious international festivals “Fantasia”, which will be held from August 2 to 25 in the city of Montreal, Canada. The short film was shot by the first-time director Raiymbek Alzhanov. The story takes place in 17th century, when military clashes occurred in the vastness of the Great Steppe. The script tells about a boy named Mergen. Despite his young age, he had to take up arms to protect his family. It should be noted that the Fantasia Film Festival is the most authoritative world competition for genre films. Over the years, premieres of the famous “Inglourious Basterds” by Tarantino and “Night Watch” by Bekmambetov took place at this film event.
