We cannot endanger the health of citizens because of stubborn anti-vaxxers, President Tokayev says

Due to the deterioration of the situation with the spread of coronavirus, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has instructed to strengthen the awareness-raising efforts on the importance of vaccination. According to the Head of State, a differentiated approach is needed in dealing with people who do not wish to get vaccinated. President Tokayev calls for all means, including through social media, to persuade them to get a COVID-19 vaccine. There is an urgent need to form mobile teams to provide methodological assistance to regions with low vaccination

“Due to a small group of ‘stubborn’ anti-vaxxers, we cannot endanger the health of our citizens, who provide for the well-being of their families through hard work. Some developed Western countries are moving from methods of persuasion to coercive measures. We will not do so, except in special cases involving large workforces,” said the president.

The Head of State also instructed the government to accelerate the pace of registration of the domestic QazVac COVID-19 vaccine at the World Health Organization and to initiate the production of the Sputnik Light vaccine at domestic pharmaceutical enterprises similar to Sputnik V.
