Ancient battle axe found in Akmola region

An ancient battle axe weighing 900 grams was found in Akmola region. Archaeologists suggested that this exhibit of the Andronov culture dates back to the Bronze Age. The instrument with a 4,000-year history was found by a history teacher near a village and handed over to the regional museum of local history. Archaeologists are thoroughly investigating the place of discovery.

“This axe was made for military operations, as evidenced by DNA test results, because samples of blood were found on it. The sample was taken to find out who this blood belongs to, human or animal. Radiocarbon dating will be carried out at the same time,” said Kuanysh Shakshakov, Director of the Museum of Local History in Akmola Region.

According to archaeologists, such a relic is found in the region for the first time. Such axes are kept only in the National Museum of Kazakhstan and in museums of Russia. Now it is planned to conduct a comprehensive examination of the exhibit.
