Kazakh government to cover 50% of housing construction cost in villages, per new mechanism

The employer builds, the government subsidizes the costs. The housing construction in villages of Kazakhstan will begin under the new rules. According to them, the government will cover half of the construction costs, but only after the housing is placed in commission. This is about enterprises related to agriculture.

“The main purpose of subsidizing is to help the employer reduce their costs on the housing construction. Another important thing is the attraction of qualified specialists to rural areas,” said Alexey Ishchuk, chief of staff, Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development.

The area of the house should be at least 100 square meters. The cost of one meter should not exceed 100,000 tenge. After five years of living in these houses, employees can purchase them, and even two times cheaper that the initial cost. According to experts, nearly 500,000 people come to cities from villages every year. The new rules are aimed to stop the urbanization process. What do city residents think about this and are they ready to go to villages for affordable housing?

“I would rather go to village in order to live in nature and have a nice job. If all the conditions are created for me, I will definitely go,” said the city resident.

“No, I would rather not go. It is better to live in cities for young people, because there is always work. I moved here from village in 2010,” said the city resident.

“I study here, but I will have to work in village for three years. I don’t think this is a problem. I would go to village,” said the city resident.

Thus, there were different views. The law will be adopted, presumably, by the end of this year. Next year, the first tranche will be allocated for construction.
