Famous film director Satybaldy Narymbetov passes away

Today the Kazakh cinema suffered an irreparable loss. Honored figure of Kazakhstan, film director, screenwriter and actor Satybaldy Narymbetov passed away at the age of 75. His works have left an endurable mark on the Kazakh cinema and literature. They have always taken a special place in viewers’ hearts. He was a screenwriter and film director at the “Kazakhfilm” studio from 1969. He shot many feature films, including “Zaual”, “Kozimnin karasy”, “Hamlet from Suzak”, “Biography of young accordionist”. He made documentaries as well, about the life of such outstanding personalities as “Kurmangazy”, Mustafa Shokai, Yermukhan Bekmakhanov. The works of Satybaldy Narymbetov were highly appreciated by world film critics and were awarded international prizes. For special merits in the Kazakh art, he was awarded the “Kurmet” order, the “Platinum Tarlan” prize, he also was a laureate of the Georges Sadoul Independent Prize. The bright image of the master of the Kazakh cinema will forever remain in the hearts of the viewers.
