Kazakh parliament adopts agreement on trademarks in EAEU

A unified system for the protection of trademarks will be created in the EAEU countries. The bill on ratification of the treaty was adopted by the members of the Senate, the Upper House of Kazakh Parliament.

The document provides for the optimization of several processes, including simplification of signing a joint agreement between the parties regarding the origin of goods, names, brands and types of services in the territory of the Union countries. Such a system will make it possible to obtain one title of protection valid simultaneously on the territory of five states. That is, by filing one application, one priority date can be established in five countries. Experts note that the ratification of the treaty will not lead to infringement of the rights of the national trademarks owners. Moreover, it will increase the level of protection for domestic entrepreneurs focused on the Eurasian market.
