Meeting of National Council of Public Trust

People with dual citizenship must not work in the civil service. Today at a meeting of the National Council of Public Trust Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed that such cases must be suppressed. The Head of State instructed the authorities to immediately deal with such civil servants. President Tokayev also spoke about the sale and lease of agricultural land to foreigners. He said that it should be prohibited at the legislative level. Therefore, in the near future, the Presidential Administration will draft a new bill. The country will also establish a commission on land reform.

“First of all, I instruct to prohibit the sale and lease of agricultural land to foreign nationals and foreign legal entities. This also applies to entrepreneurs with foreign shares. It was decided that this work must be implemented urgently through the President’s legislative initiative. I instruct the administration to draft a bill. Secondly, I instruct to establish a commission on land reform within one month and commence work on March 25. The commission should include reputable representatives of the agrarian sector and experienced professionals in land issues. Thirdly, I instruct the government to conclude a comprehensive agreement on key land reform issues by the end of August this year. Fourth, the public should be regularly informed of each stage of the commission’s work and its proposed measures,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan.
