Political changes in Kazakhstan discussed in UK

British parliamentarians discussed Kazakhstan’s reforms and changes in the political model. Representatives of the House of Lords shared their views on the initiative of moving from a super-presidential form of government to a presidential one with a strong parliament. They noted that the process of democratization, which is taking place in Kazakhstan, will raise bilateral relations to the next level. The meeting took place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“I’ve been visiting Kazakhstan for the last seven years. And I’ve seen the progress that’s been made. I’ve seen the commitment to reform that there is. The most simple thing is the rule of law. This is the work in progress, this is a journey. And we want to see Kazakhstan succeed,” said Lord Francis Maude, Member of UK Parliament.

“I am a new friend of Kazakhstan. I’ve just spent a very enjoyable evening meeting a wonderful ambassador, I’m learning a great deal about your wonderful country and the relationship that we have already developed between Great Britain and Kazakhstan,” said Sir Graham Stuart Brady, Member of UK Parliament.
