Senate adopts law on conservation of biodiversity of Caspian Sea

Flora and fauna of the Caspian Sea are under special protection. Members of the Senate, the Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament, ratified a protocol on the conservation of biodiversity of the reservoir. According to the document, fishing, hunting, trapping animals, collecting plants or their destruction will be strictly controlled. A ban is introduced on the burial or placement of various wastes that can harm the ecosystem of the sea. The law was sent for signature to the President of Kazakhstan. The development of the bill was preceded by an agreement of the Heads of the Caspian states.

“The conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem of the Caspian Sea is a strategic priority for our country. In this regard, the law adopted today is of great importance. We hope that the measures provided for in it will strengthen cooperation of the five Caspian states in this direction and will contribute to the conservation of the ecosystem of the sea,” said Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairperson of the Senate.
