UN approves creation of aid hub in Almaty for Afghanistan

The United Nations approved the proposal of Kazakhstan to create a humanitarian aid hub for Afghanistan in the city of Almaty, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported. The metropolis is less than three hours of flight from Kabul, which makes it a convenient location for collecting and transporting humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. Kazakhstan’s initiative received a preliminary positive response from the UN official representatives. The Almaty Hub can become a coordinating center contributing to the prevention of economic collapse of Afghanistan, an increase in the flow of refugees and other negative humanitarian consequences.
