Pre-election campaign of rural mayors in Kazakhstan starts on July 14

According to Kazakh Ministry of Information and Social Development, the pre-election campaign of mayors of cities of regional significance, villages, townships, rural districts of Kazakhstan starts on July 14.

“The pre-election campaign starts from the moment of the end of the registration period for candidates and ends at 00:00 o’clock local time on the day preceding the election day. Thus, the pre-election campaign will start after 18:00 local time on July 14, 2021 and will end at 00:00 local time on July 24, 2021,” says the statement.

The voting will take place on July 25. According to Kazakh Central Election Commission, there are 2,346 mayors in Kazakhstan today. After the introduction of the new rules, all of them will be elected by direct vote upon the expiration of their term of office. It is planned to elect about 775 mayors by the end of the year.
