Defective equipment to no longer enter Kazakh market

From cell phones to cars - all production under the brand ‘Made in Kazakhstan’ can now be checked on safety and compliance with quality standards in a special laboratory. A testing center with a unique echoless camera was launched in the Kazakh capital. It will check factory settings, detect defects and fix them before the product enters the market. Thus, it will help prevent entry of poor quality goods into the domestic market.

“We are among the 15 countries that have such a laboratory. It is needed to support research on the products of high-tech industries,” said Bakhyt Sultanov, Kazakh Minister of Trade and Integration.

Scientists have been working on this project for three years. In early 2021, the lab was launched in test mode. Up to now, about 40 types of equipment have already been checked for compliance with quality standards.

“We produce radios, aircraft and gas meters. All of these products will be tested for compliance with the requirements and standards in this facility, after which we hope to receive the certificate,” noted a manager of a private company Abilkhair Olzhabayev.

Amendments to the law on technical regulation come into force in July. They provide for tighter controls of all products that enter the domestic market. So, the launch of the laboratory is very timely.
