Kazakh developers create drone and talking robot

A unique solar powered drone can fly 10 hours. According to the developers, it broke an absolute record for the duration of a drone flight. At first glance, it resembles a toy plane. It weighs only 4.5 kilograms and is two meters wide. The so-called solar UAV is capable of rising to an altitude of 10 kilometers. The engineers say that this was made possible by aircraft construction technology. In addition, the drone can speed up to almost 170 kilometers per hour. Its scope is wide enough. It can be used in agriculture, to search for people and to patrol the area. The developers intend to improve the project and break the world record.

“The flight time can be increased, it can actually fly 24 hours a day. A non-stop flight is possible, not all year round, but only about six months a year and only in daylight. So, it will not be possible to use it around the clock in winter. But still you can try. We were interested in the proposal from the Ministry of Emergency Situations. We will now participate in the exhibition, which will be attended by representatives from about five countries. They’re very interested in this project. The military, the security services are the first to show interest in this project,” said Alexey Oksenenko, developer.

Meanwhile, student Zhangali Maksutov has developed a robot that not only performs commands of others, but also speaks Kazakh. Maksutov worked on his project for almost four years. According to the developer, in the future he plans to refine his invention so that the robot can be used in agriculture, medicine and industry.

“I spent all my time doing experiments at home. It took me more than 10 tests to get this robot to talk. It took a lot of work to modify the speaker system to achieve good sound production. It also took a lot of time to connect the wires correctly. Thanks to this huge number of experiments, I eventually was able to create a full-fledged robot,” said Zhangali Maksutov, student.
