Kazakh oncologists learn from experience of South Korean doctors

Kazakh doctors are exploring new cancer treatments in South Korea. 14 employees of the National Research Oncology Center will work together with colleagues. They plan to learn from the experience of treating cancer through radiation diagnostics, proton therapy and nuclear medicine. A memorandum on cooperation between cancer centers of the two countries was signed during the state visit of South Korean President Moon Jae-in to Kazakhstan in 2019.

“We saw that here they interact very closely with the population, teaching them how to properly fight smoking, overweight. Moreover, our group, we  passed screening at the center and learned from the inside how it all happens in the Republic of Korea. We were impressed. We would like to see such screening centers in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well. A patient here can come for a checkup and get the results,” said Nurgul Azhdarova, Head of Cancer Control Unit, National Research Oncology Center.
