Another coronavirus vaccine may appear in Kazakhstan

The domestically produced QazVac vaccine may soon be used abroad. The head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, announced today the organization’s readiness to consider the possibility to include the vaccine in the list of medicines recommended by the WHO for use in emergencies during an online meeting with the President of our country. The head of the WHO praised the efforts of Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev in countering the pandemic.

“Two million vaccinated already is a very significant figure, many countries have not yet reached such level. Your ambitious goals to vaccinate 55 percent of the country’s population deserve respect,” said the WHO head.

Meanwhile, another coronavirus vaccine may appear in Kazakhstan. The drug is being developed at the International Vaccinology Center, which operates at the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University located in the capital.

“Since this is a serious enough process, the preclinical part of the study has already been carried out on laboratory animals at the Masgut Aikimbayev scientific center. It is also planned to study immunogenic properties on primates. This is a very serious study. Let’s wait,” said Zhannat Satybaldiyeva, expert at the National Center for Expertise of Medicines and Medical Devices.
