2572 children in Kazakhstan undergo COVID-19 treatment

No children have died from coronavirus in Kazakhstan, said Deputy Chief of the Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery Aigul Bazarbayeva. Most often, children carry the disease in a mild, simply put, asymptomatic form, she noted. According to the expert’s information, 26,620 little Kazakh residents have been infected with COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic spread in the country. More than 24,000 of them have recovered. Doctors are currently closely monitoring over 2,500 children, 92 percent of whom receive outpatient care. According to the official data, the top three in terms of the number of infected kids includes the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty as well as Karagandy region.

“We are monitoring the incidence of the coronavirus infection among children. 22,194 schoolchildren were infected in the country from September 1, 2020 to May 16, 2021. 15,510 out of them were in distance learning, which is 69, almost 70 percent. 7,084 were kids who studied offline, which is about 30 percent. Of course, it will be necessary to take certain epidemic measures in order to reduce the risk of the infection spread,” said Bazarbayeva.

Moreover, it is noted that infected children were mainly in the distance learning. Therefore, there is a possibility to organize the next academic year in a traditional format, of course, in compliance with all sanitary rules.
