Kazakhstan to receive second batch of Pfizer vaccine by November 20

The second batch of Pfizer vaccine will be delivered to Kazakhstan by November 20, said Kazakh Health Minister Alexey Tsoy at the Government’s meeting. Earlier, the country received 379,000 doses of the vaccine, the immunization of the population began in seven regions. According to the head of the health ministry, 1,313 children, 247 pregnant and lactating women have already been vaccinated. Moreover, he noted that the US-made drug can be provided for a fee soon. In general, to date, 69 percent of the adult population subject to vaccination has been fully immunized in the country. Alexey Tsoy also spoke about the statistics of the COVID-19 morbidity. He informed that the bulk of those infected and sick with severe course of coronavirus are accounted for unvaccinated people.

“The proportion of unvaccinated infected people to the number of registered patients with coronavirus since February 1 is almost 95 percent, while only 5 percent of vaccinated citizens fell ill. A similar situation is with the number of patients on artificial lung ventilation, among whom almost 96 percent are unvaccinated. The presented data once again demonstrate the effectiveness of vaccination,” Tsoy said.
