Kazakh scientists create medical solution for cancer diagnosis

Scientists from Kazakhstan made a solution for comprehensive diagnosis of cervical cancer. It has been developed for two years. They managed to achieve an optimal composition of the liquid, and the quality is similar to foreign analogues, the experts said. The medicine will help reduce the cost of medical diagnostics, because it will become much more affordable.

“Our solution is made from the most readily available reagents. The price for it is reasonable due to this. It is approximately 10 times cheaper than foreign analogues and is in no way inferior to them in quality,” said Kydyrmolla Akatan, the spokesperson of National Scientific Lab, East Kazakhstan State University.

Doctors of the cancer center in Oskemen are confident that the development will be a real asset for the country’s clinics. They are already waiting for the first delivery of the domestic medicine for mass screening. More than 50,000 women in the east of Kazakhstan undergo comprehensive diagnostics of cervical cancer every year.

“In order to expand the scope of our fixing solution, we are currently carrying out further research on the development of new fixing compositions for fixing and transporting other biomaterials,” said Aidana Imasheva, the junior researcher of National Scientific Lab, East Kazakhstan State University.

Meanwhile, the group of scientists intends to start mass production of the medicine. The solution has already been patented and included in the Register of medicines and medical devices of Kazakhstan.
