95% of patients connected to ventilators are unvaccinated, Health Minister says

An overwhelming majority of people infected and seriously ill with coronavirus in Kazakhstan have not been vaccinated against this disease, said Kazakh Health Minister Alexey Tsoy at the Government’s meeting. He urged Kazakh residents to make the right decision in favor of vaccination.

“Thus, from February 1, the proportion of unvaccinated infected patients to the number of registered coronavirus cases is 97.5 percent, while only 2.5 percent of vaccinated citizens got infected. A similar situation is seen with the severe course of the coronavirus infection, where 95 percent of patients in intensive care units and those connected to ventilators are unvaccinated as well. The presented data once again clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of the vaccination,” Tsoy said.

Almost 6.5 million people received the first component of COVID-19 vaccine, over 5 million received both. Alexey Tsoy noted that vaccination points have approximately 1.4 million doses of the first component and 940,000 doses of the second. Delivery of medicines is carried out according to the schedule.
