Number of people willing to get COVID-19 vaccine rises in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan reports a rising number of citizens willing to get vaccinated against coronavirus. There were even long queues at the vaccination centers in Aktau on weekends. According to the management of one of the clinics, they have three vaccination rooms. They even opened two additional rooms, but the queues are not getting smaller. Doctors advise residents to go to other clinics in the city to get vaccinations. There are 38 vaccination centers and 14 mobile teams in the Mangystau region.

“For example today about 600 people have been vaccinated. Senior residents come to get inoculated often accompanied by children and grandchildren. Some just come for a consultation,” said Nurbol Konzhar, Spokesperson of the Health Department of Mangystau Region.

A similar situation has developed in the West Kazakhstan region. Around 360,000 residents are eligible for COVID-19 vaccination there. More than a third of them have already been immunized. Doctors once again emphasize that only the vaccination can stop the pandemic. For example, 40 percent of the population has already been vaccinated in the Bokeiorda district.

“40 percent of the population has already been vaccinated. The plan is to bring it to 8,203. To date, 3,301 people have received the first dose of the vaccine, while 2,606 have been vaccinated with two doses. So far, 500 first doses of the Sputnik V vaccine and 865 of the second dose are in reserve. Arrival of additional 30 first doses of the QazVac vaccine and eight vaccination rooms in the district are expected,” noted Saniya Kharessova, a doctor and epidemiologist .
