Doctors in East Kazakhstan region prepare immune plasma

Almost 3,000 doses of immune plasma for treating COVID-19 will be prepared in eastern Kazakhstan. Doctors are hastily looking for donors who were vaccinated or recovered from coronavirus. Plasma supplies may become vital. Over 300 cases are detected in the region every day, and the epidemiological situation does not improve. At the peak of the pandemic, donor Nargiz Kumarova clearly realized that one’s trouble is everyone’s trouble and helps save others.

“I myself have had the coronavirus infection. My parents, relatives, many were infected, we lost many relatives due to this disease. I would just like to help people,” shared  Nargiz Kumarova, resident of Oskemen city.

Almost 3,000 doses of immune plasma were consumed during the coronavirus crisis of 2020 in the east. In East Kazakhstan region, 300 doses of plasma were prepared in two weeks, but 10 times more is needed.

“Doctors see the effect of using plasma, so we compare. In the first months of summer, we consumed two doses per day. In July, we have already started to consume seven doses per day,” said Svetlana Shmurygina, Director of the East Kazakhstan Regional Blood Center.

The regional blood center is set to prepare more than 2,500 doses of immune plasma. Now the employees of the medical organization are carrying out explanatory work among the population.
