Epidemiological situation in Kazakhstan remains serious

The COVID-19 keeps raging in Kazakhstan. The country’s epidemiological situation remains alarming. According to the COVID-19 matrix, Kazakhstan has been in a ‘red’ zone since June 26. All regions of the country are currently in this high-risk zone, except for the Turkistan region. As of August 3, 56 percent of the inpatient beds and 44 percent of the ICU beds are occupied by coronavirus patients, Kazakh Health Minister Alexey Tsoy announced at the Government’s meeting. The epidemiological situation is evolving and will continue to progress according to an optimistic scenario, but only if vaccination and quarantine are observed, he stated.

“According to the data, 16,663 violators have been identified since July 10. Of these, 10,305 violators with ‘red’ and 6,358 with ‘yellow’ statuses. Thus, the infection of the population with COVID-19 has been prevented in more than 16,000 establishments,” Tsoy reported.

During inspections of the facilities operating with the Ashyq system, monitoring groups detected 642 violations. Kazakh Prime Minister Askar Mamin instructed to keep the situation under strict control and tighten preventive measures.

“I instruct the Health Ministry to ensure the smooth operation of all hospitals, primary health centers, mobile groups and PCR testing laboratories, as well as the availability of a sufficient amount of medicines and protective equipment. I also instruct the Defense Ministry and the Health Ministry to intensify the work of monitoring groups in keeping track of and detecting violations of sanitary regulations,” the prime minister stated.

Experts once again remind that the only way out of the pandemic is through vaccination. To date, over 55 percent of the country’s eligible population have received the first dose of the vaccine. Nearly 40 percent of citizens have been fully vaccinated against coronavirus with two doses. In addition, Kazakhstan has entered into agreements for the supply of an additional eight million doses of the vaccine to immunize another four million citizens.
