Regions in Kazakhstan to strengthen quarantine

The epidemiological situation in Karagandy region is unstable. The region registers more than a hundred new cases of COVID-19 every day. The infection rate has doubled over the past two weeks. In this regard, a new decree of the Chief State Sanitary Doctor was adopted to strengthen quarantine. It will come into force on July 29.

“Shopping and entertainment centers, beauty salons as well as fitness centers, sports centers and catering facilities using the Ashyq application are switching to a shorter working schedule from 9.00 to 17.00. Those that do not enter the system will only be able to receive customers until 12.00. In addition, irregular bus transportation within the region and between regions is prohibited. It is still banned to hold mass events.”

Restrictive measures are being tightened in Kyzylorda region as well. 168 residents were infected with COVID-19 there in the last day, 19 of whom are children. Most of the infected accounted for the regional center. According to doctors, the burden on medical institutions of the city is growing. The workload of hospitals is now 90 percent. Most of the patients are in serious condition.

“According to the decree, public transport is suspended on weekends. Despite participation in the Ashyq project, shopping and entertainment centers, the city park will be closed on Saturday and Sunday. Moreover, the work of catering facilities is limited on weekdays. Participants of the Ashyq project will be able to work until 20.00 with occupancy rate no more than 50 percent. Catering facilities that do not use this project are allowed to work only until 17:00,” said Yerlan Uzakbayev, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Kyzylorda City.
