Kazakh symphony orchestra won grand prix in international competition

A worldwide recognition - the Symphony Orchestra of the Kuanyshbayev State Academic Kazakh Music and Drama Theatre took the Grand Prix and the first place in two categories of the Aurora Music Festival in Stockholm. The creative team sent four of its works to Sweden. As a result, the performance of Kurmangazy’s kyui ‘Balbarauyn’ and the symphonic interpretation of a popular Michael Jackson’s song had ensured the win of the orchestra. The repertoire of the band is very diverse, along with Kazakh folk music, the orchestra performs musical compositions of domestic composers, as well as foreign hits and even jazz music - all in its own adaptation. Previously, the orchestra had never participated in international competitions, but already on the first try it won two top awards.

“I would like to say that this is the first time in the history of our theatre that our team has submitted a video application and immediately received the highest award in two categories. We expected such a result, because we always work and rehearse as if we have another contest, another performance in a week. And we always work in such mode. So we recorded everything calmly, without much stress, because our program is always ready. We did our best and performed well,” said the conductor Yerlan Beissembayev.
