Astana Opera premieres play “Il matrimonio segreto”

For the first time, a new play “Il matrimonio segreto” by Domenico Cimarosa will premiere at Astana Opera theatre. Stage directors had an idea to make it unique with original scenery created on the principle of a kaleidoscope and huge exaggerated wigs. In a word, the opera immerses in the era of French playwright Moliere, in which the work was written. The performance will be portrayed by famous soloists of the theatre, including Talgat Galeyev, Altynbek Abilda, Yevgeniy Chainikov, Yerzhan Saipov, Saltanat Akhmetova, Zhannat Baktay and other talented performers. According to them, the play is presented in a new bright format.

“There are no leading parts, all the characters are leading here. The main difference from previous plays, from “La scala di seta” and “Don Pasquale” is the huge number of ensembles which involve such a mature musicality and a very subtle sense of style,” said conductor Abzal Mukhitdin.

“The play is very sparkling and funny. Indeed, actors did a very good job. They are not just singers, they are actors. This is very necessary in comic opera, in the comic genre. They do their job very well and have fun themselves, of course. Actors who enjoy their own work certainly convey joy to spectators. I think everyone will feel it,” shared Ala Simonishvili, Artistic and Stage Director of the production.
