Kazakhstan boosts its agricultural productivity

Kazakhstan is increasing the production rate of the agro-industrial complex. In 2020, the country improved its positions in the global food security index and ranked 32nd among 113 countries. To date, among the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, Kazakhstan ranks first in terms of the indicators of agricultural development. This was announced by the Kazakh Prime Minister Askar Mamin at a joint session of the Houses of the Parliament. The country has implemented 59 projects as part of the measures to ensure food security for 29 main products. These are 48 dairy farms, three meat processing plants and eight new poultry farms. In total, these facilities produced more than 220,000 tons of products.

“During the coronacrisis, the agro-industrial complex has become a driving force for the stability and self-sufficiency of the national economy. Last year, investment in agriculture increased by 15 percent, and investment in food production by 13.5 percent. A total of 20.1 million tons of grain and leguminous crops were grinded, and grain quality was improved to 80 percent. This is the best result for the past five years,” Mamin said.

Mamin underlined that in 2020, as part of the industrialization of the national economy, the country implemented a total of 200 projects not only in the agro-industrial complex, but also in the metallurgical, construction, mechanical engineering and chemical industries.
