Mazhilis approves ratification of agreement on procedure for circulation of goods within EAEU

Member states of the Eurasian Economic Union intend to control products that are not covered by existing requirements and technical regulations. Today, Mazhilis approved the corresponding document. It was presented by Kazakh Minister of Trade and Integration Bakhyt Sultanov. He said that to date, 85 percent of traded goods are already regulated by the EAEU’s unified technical regulations. This agreement will allow covering the remaining volume of goods on the market of the EAEU member states, which amounts to 15 percent. These include goods such as jewelry, watches, and household brushes. Overall, the bill would ensure the safety of all products circulated within the EAEU, Sultanov added.

“This agreement does not impose administrative barriers on businesses. Compliance with declared standards based on test results is a sufficient condition for ensuring safety. Product information will be stored in the database. It will be available to consumers and can be used for market research. This will make it possible to quickly respond to the emergence of new products and conduct continuous monitoring,” he said.
