Kazakhstan expands its non-oil exports to Tajikistan

The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan is growing noticeably. Last year alone, it increased 1.5-fold and exceeded one billion in US currency, according to official data. Now, the parties set the task of increasing this figure up to US$2 billion. A corresponding memorandum has already been signed to achieve this goal. Accordingly, the aggregate insurance limits and trade finance for importers will be increased.

"This will allow for expansion of Kazakh entrepreneurs’ access to the Tajik market and minimization of export risks," states National Export Insurance Company ‘KazakhExport’.

At present, Kazakhstan supplies Tajikistan with fertilizers, light industry products, motor and air transport. However, this list will grow significantly in the near future, as the country intends to export building fittings, vegetable oil and parts for transformers to the neighboring state.
