Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia: perspectives of cooperation

During the visit of the Kazakh President to Saudi Arabia, dozens of strategically important documents were signed. This is a kind of new starting point not only for the two countries, but for the entire regions of Middle East and Central Asia.

“400 million dollars per year in industries, such as machinery, iron and steel production, as well as food processing and agriculture. We do not understand that some logistical challenges may be the impalement, but we believe that it`s time,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Kazakh President.

To date, 50 largest companies of the Saudi kingdom wish to cooperate with Kazakhstan. After all, the country is the first in the world in terms of tungsten, uranium and chromium reserves. The companies are also interested in deposits of precious and non-ferrous metals. However, most investments are planned in the agro-industrial complex. Saudi businessmen intend to build a full cycle of grain processing in Kazakhstan.

“Today, QazTrade signed an agreement, it will help both our and Saudi businesspeople to find common ground on projects. Out of nine agreements, one is a large project in the agro-industrial complex worth 200 million tenge,” opined Bakhyt Sultanov, the Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Trade and Integration.
