Over 45,000 young Kazakh business owners receive grants

More than 45,000 young Kazakh businesspeople received grants under the program to support young entrepreneurs. The country’s Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population helped them to open their own businesses. Over 546 people used the state's financial assistance in the first half of the year. This was stated by the spokesperson for the ministry’s employment department. According to Ayaulym Berekenova, the number of grant recipients will increase by the end of the year. They have been allocated to young entrepreneurs in the country since 2018. Four years ago, there were 568 young businesspeople who received such support, in 2019 - about 22,000, and in 2020 - half as much. Last year, more than 11,500 young citizens benefited from the ministry's assistance. The number of grant recipients this year is expected to amount to 10,000 people.

“Grantees use grant funds to implement their business plans. The number of grants today amounts to 400 monthly calculation indices, which accounts for 1,225,000 tenge. At the same time, grant recipients must meet a certain requirement, namely young business owners receiving grants should not be above 29 years old. I would like to note that since 2019 we have been paying particular attention to the country’s youth. We single out young people as a special group and allocate at least 50 percent of annual grants to them,” said Ayaulym Berekenova, a spokesperson of the Kazakh Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population.

In addition, the relevant ministry held an online job fair for the first time this year. The project is aimed at employment of young people up to 35 years old.

“We consistently develop the labor market. The current year’s novelty is that we held a nationwide job fair at the electronic labor exchange. Over 20 largest employers of the country took part there. Around 1,300 job vacancies were offered at the fair, and 1,377 young people aged 18 to 35 submitted their resumes,” said Ayaulym Berekenova, a spokesperson of the Kazakh Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population.

During the online job fair, more than 100 young professionals had a direct interview with the employer. According to the ministry’s spokesperson, the results of the project will be announced soon.
