Nur-Sultan hosts sixth Eurasian Business Forum on Renewable Energy

Leading domestic and foreign experts are discussing green energy development in the Kazakh capital. The sixth Eurasian business forum on renewable energy and waste recycling is attended by more than 200 industry professionals and representatives of government agencies from the UK, Latvia, Germany, the U.S. and Central Asian countries. The participants intend to find effective solutions to stimulate the recycling industry at the national and regional levels. The best approaches and practices of countries for the implementation of available technologies, as well as changes in recycling fee rates, modernization of systems for managing solid and industrial waste, achieving carbon neutrality and developing eco-projects will be discussed at the forum. At the end of the forum, the participating countries plan to develop joint recommendations towards development of a full-fledged green economy and waste-free production.

“According to the Environmental Code, the local executive bodies play the first fiddle in waste management. We have a session with the participation of the local executive bodies for us to understand what kind of support they need and where we can further strengthen our work. What else can we do to improve work in this area? Firly, one of the solutions is the development of the circular economy, which primarily requires a revision of the approaches themselves,” said Zulfiya Suleimenova, Kazakh Deputy Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources.
