Kazakhstan’s economy grows 4.6% since start of 2022

Kazakhstan’s economy shows positive dynamics.  Since the beginning of the year, it has grown by 4.6 percent, Minister of National Economy Alibek Kuantyrov stated. At the same time according to him, the main growth indicators were fixed in trade, construction, transport and warehousing, information and communication, manufacturing industry, water supply and agriculture. At the regional level, Shymkent, Almaty and Akmola region showed the best results.

“Within the reporting period the main trends show a steady dynamics in the real sector, increased growth rates in the service sector, high exports turnover. The real sector growth amounted to 4.8 percent. Business activity in the service sector grew by 3.9 percent,” said Alibek Kuantyrov, Kazakh Minister of National Economy.

Alikhan Smailov instructs to strengthen work to curb inflation

Noting the positive dynamics, Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov entrusted the responsible agencies and governor’s offices to sustain dynamics of growth. Thus, it is necessary to continue measures on further diversification of the economy, attraction of investments and employment creation. According to Smailov, curb inflation measures need to be significantly enhanced.

“By the end of May, the annual inflation rate in the country has amounted to 14 percent. At the same time, the level of food inflation reached 19 percent. One of the main factors of inflation acceleration remains the growth of world food prices. The heads of state authorities and governors should strengthen the work on curbing inflation and take effective measures,” stated Alikhan Smailov, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
