Kazakh Ministry of Energy does not rule out the price increase of AI-95 gasoline and liquefied gas. The fixed price for socially important types of fuel, imposed at the beginning of this year, are currently in effect in Kazakhstan. Back in January, the rise in prices of fuel and lubricants became the cause of protests across Kazakhstan. At the time, the President instructed to introduce marginal fuel prices throughout the country. On July 1, the order expires, but the Ministry of Energy has not decided yet whether to let the prices float or keep them at the previous level.

“Notable increase in prices is not expected. We will take all the measures to prevent abrupt price changes. Liquefied gas will go up in price, a small increase; a corresponding order has already been published. As for AI-93, I have heard that there will be no rise. The Ministry does not regulate AI-95 gasoline. This gasoline is for the rich,” said Zhandos Nurmaganbetov, Kazakh Vice Minister of Energy.

Until July 1, 2022, the price ceiling on fuel remains in effect in the country. For AI-80 - 89 tenge per liter, AI-92 and 93 – 182 tenge. The cost of diesel fuel amounts to 230-260 tenge, depending on the region.

Currently, to maintain the balance of petroleum products on the domestic market, work is underway in Kazakhstan to extend the ban on their export from the country’s territory until the end of 2022.
