Kazakhstan Georgia discuss prospects for further cooperation

The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Georgia has already exceeded US$29.5 million. And this is not the limit. The parties believe that there is significant potential for increasing mutual trade and strengthening cooperation in the field of logistics and agriculture. Mutual investments of businesspeople of the two countries also grew significantly. Over the past 16 years, the gross inflow of direct investment from Georgia to Kazakhstan has exceeded US$285 million, while Kazakhstan has invested in Georgia’s economy over US$495 million.

“There are very good dynamics in trade. Foreign trade between the two countries grew by almost 28 percent. It is very important. And it's moving into a stable direction. There are only certain products, categories that are characterized by stability. But our goal is to see all the possibilities of all potential export products of Kazakhstan and Georgia,” said Giorgi Jakhutashvili, Chairperson of Kazakh-Georgian Economic Union.

“We studied the economy of Kazakhstan and today presented a report showing that cooperation between Kazakhstan and Georgia is developing. One of the aspects is tourism, Kazakh tourists are very solvent. As for exports, Kazakhstan may not be the main exporter for Georgia, but there are goods in which Kazakhstan is in the lead,” added Irine Kvakhadze, Head of Research at TBC Capital.
