Kazakhstan's foreign trade turnover exceeds US$28 billion

Kazakhstan’s trade with foreign countries amounted to US$28.7 billion in the first quarter of 2022. The figures increased by 45 percent compared to last year. At the same time, the volume of exports to foreign markets increased by 66 percent, exceeding US$19 billion, Kazakh Economic Research Institute reports. Domestic goods were predominantly shipped to the countries of the European Union, China and Russia. Products of the mining industry and agriculture traditionally top the list. Thus, exports of oil, copper cathodes and ferroalloys increased from January to March. As for food products, there has also been a significant increase in exports of flour, sunflower oil and pasta. Overall, Kazakhstan’s exports of food products grew by 44 percent.
