IT girls from Central Asia have opportunity to participate in hackathon

Female developers from Central Asian countries have an opportunity to participate in a special hackathon. The application process is now underway. Until May 23, IT professionals from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan will be able to present their developments at Tumaris Hack.

“Each country separately is not attractive in business, in terms of venture investments. By uniting the entire region, a large number of startups will emerge. This is how we will make our countries more attractive, including for investment. We also want to build an ecosystem that includes all the Central Asian countries. The population of our countries is very small so the probability that there will be strong startups is much lower,” said Anuar Lenzat, executive director of a business incubator.

At the stage of collecting applications, the organizers of the competition have already taken interest in several projects, including those from Kazakhstan.

“At present, most of the IT startups are predominantly founded by men, and we would like to change this trend. We believe that women and girls can and are able to launch large-scale projects and attract big investments. Just like it is done in Western and developed countries. We are for equality. We believe that the girls’ potential should not be ignored. They should be the founders of the team, the startup. I mean, the main thing here is that the girls will be the generators of ideas,” Lenzat added.

In the competition, which will be held online from May 27 to 29, the girls will be able to create prototypes of products that solve socio-economic problems. The winners of the two-day competition, in addition to the cash prizes, will also get free access to the startup accelerator.
