Kazakhstan to increase funding for spring field work and harvesting

Kazakhstan will increase funding for spring field and harvest work. Thus, the Agriculture Ministry promises to allocate an additional 70 billion tenge (US$139.1 million) for these purposes. Overall, the total amount of budget lending to domestic agricultural producers will amount to 140 billion tenge (US$278.3 million). This was announced by the First Vice Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov. According to him, with the help of additional funds, about 1,300 farms will be covered by affordable lending. The issue of preparation for spring field work is under constant control of the ministry, Saparov added. In turn, Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov stressed that special attention should be paid to the sowing of highly profitable export-oriented crops, while farmers should increase the area of crops.

“As you know, the world is now witnessing a global trend of rising prices and demand for agricultural products. In this regard, it is important to ensure both domestic consumption and export potential of agricultural products. In this context, timely and high-quality spring field work is one of the most important tasks at the moment, as it concerns ensuring the country's food security. In turn, the government has taken all the necessary decisions on financial and logistical support for the spring sowing,” Smailov said.
