Kazakh crypto miners to pay additional tax

Miners in Kazakhstan will pay an additional tax. The corresponding law came into force on January 1 of this year. From now on, the owners of crypto-mining farms will pay one tenge for each kilowatt of electricity used for the operation of the cryptocurrency platforms.

“To date, the Ministry of Energy, together with the Head of State, have adopted the right policy. That is, they have so far limited the issuance of new connection specifications. At the same time, official miners that are registered, regularly pay taxes, have previously received technical conditions, built mining farms and made investments, are given the opportunity to continue working. But because there is a shortage of electricity, new miners are not yet given a connection. But it’s not a dead end, as there is an option for them. They can get connected if they are willing to import electricity from other neighboring states,” said Nurlan Kapenov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of RES ‘Qazaq Green.’
