Over US$1.3 billion invested in Kazakhstan’s agriculture in 2021

Over 600 billion tenge (US$1.3 billion) have been invested in Kazakhstan’s agriculture in 2021. Over the year, capital investments in the sector increased by almost 50 percent, Ranking.kz reports. In general, statistics show that over the past five years, investments in the sector have been growing by an average of 24 percent per year. Preferential loans, as well as other mechanisms of state support served as the main support tools for the agro-industrial complex. For instance, only in 2020, the state financial institution Agrarian Credit Corporation had financed 75 investment projects totaling almost 46 billion tenge (over US$105 million). In 2021, over 7,000 entrepreneurs received support for more than 209 billion in national currency (over US$478 million). The funds were used for spring field and harvesting works, purchase of equipment and cattle, opening of industrial and family dairy farms, construction of greenhouses, purchase of drip irrigation systems, and more.
