Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev meets with foreign investors

Over the years of independence, Kazakhstan has attracted more than US$370 billion of foreign direct investments. These funds have become one of the key factors in the development of the domestic economy. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted this at a meeting with representatives of international investment companies. President Tokayev stressed that he personally chairs the Foreign Investors’ Council, which is a key platform for interaction with foreign businesspeople. In addition to attracting direct investment in the economy, great attention is paid to the development of the securities market and the attraction of foreign portfolio investors.

As a result, Kazakhstan has the largest capital market in the region. The Head of State also noted that a large-scale campaign to privatize more than 700 state-owned enterprises in various sectors of the country’s economy is underway. In the future, the shares of these companies will be listed on national stock exchanges, which will attract new investments.
