Mutual trade among SCO member states grows markedly
In the first seven months of 2021 alone, Kazakhstan's trade with the SCO countries increased by 19 percent and amounted to US$36.5 billion. The agro-industrial industry is one of the most advanced. There has been notable annual growth. The transit-transport potential has also shown significant progress. Since the beginning of the year, cargo has been transported through Kazakhstan by 25 percent more than in the same period last year. Overall, despite the pandemic, trade among the organization’s member states increased by 40 percent in the first seven months of this year. The SCO countries do not intend to stop there. They are planning to further deepen their cooperation in various areas. It is planned to establish a SCO food security reserve and an investment fund in the food sector.
“For our part, we are ready to import food, competitive agricultural products from the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. This will help to strike a balance of mutual trade between our countries. We hope these measures will lay a solid foundation for practical cooperation,” said Li Keqiang, Chinese Premier.
