Transition to new economy discussed at 14th Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona

The pandemic encouraged businesses to take new approaches in providing uninterrupted supply and establishing efficient supply chains. Thus, Kazakhstan and Russia will soon launch a special agroexpress to increase the trade turnover. This is a logistic rail corridor that is supposed to consolidate agricultural cargo, ensuring loading in both directions at the most preferential tariff.

“Speaking of Kazakhstan, our trade has not declined, but even increased a little bit, by hundredths of a percent. This suggests that systemic trade cooperation is the key to maintaining stable economic relations,” said Veronika Nikishina, CEO, Russian Export Center.

On the sidelines of the 19th Eurasian Economic Forum, which was held in Verona, Italy, it was also noted that European countries are very interested in ensuring that logistics corridors through Eurasia are as efficient as possible. However, after the pandemic, it is necessary not to just increase production and restore logistics, the forum participants are sure. The corona crisis showed that it is necessary to reorient the economy to reduce consumption.

“We must reorient all production and move away from a completely runaway consumer market towards a more humane economic model. We need to change not only the methods of production, but also the methods of consumption. We must change the economic order. Kazakhstan also has to play its role in the transition to a new post-pandemic economy, being an important player both within the Eurasian Economic Union and within Greater Eurasia from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean,” said Antonio Fallico, President, “Conoscere Eurasia” Association.
