Kazakh producers earn over US$2 million from leather exports

Kazakh leather producers are conquering the world market. Since the beginning of the year alone, they have earned about US$2.5 million in exports. The current figure is more than 73 percent higher than that of the same period of last year, the press service of Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development reported. According to their data, the countries that purchase processed leather from Kazakh enterprises most often are China, India, Italy, Turkey, Ukraine and Spain. It is not sold in such a large quantity on the local market. Domestic leather is usually purchased by Kazakh manufacturers of shoes, bags and belts. Overall, leather tanning and processing enterprises are located in 11 regions of Kazakhstan. The majority of them, seven to be precise, are located in Shymkent. The rest are in Almaty, Kostanai, Zhambyl, Aktobe, Kyzylorda, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan and East Kazakhstan regions, as well as in the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty. Since the beginning of the year, they have produced 54 million square decimeters of leather.
