Over US$70.5 million to be invested in ecotourism in Kazakhstan

More than 30 billion tenge will be invested in ecotourism in Kazakhstan in the coming years. The funds are planned to be directed to the development of four national parks. They are designed to become a popular holiday destination for both Kazakh residents and foreign nationals. These are Altyn Emel, Charyn, Kolsai Lakes and Ile-Alatau Natural Park. Tourism Committee Chairperson of the Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Sports Dastan Ryspekov said it in an interview with Qazaq TV. He said that visit centers will be built there, where it will be possible not only to get all the necessary information, but also to rent the necessary equipment for a useful and, most importantly, eco-friendly rest. Glamping and camping sites, observation decks, recreation areas and parking lots will appear on these territories as well. The spokesperson noted that in the future, the work will continue in other locations of the country with pristine nature and breathtaking views. One of them is already receiving first visitors today.

“The investor has already worked on one of the national parks, have you seen a visit center on the territory of the Ayusai gorge in the Ile-Alatau National Park? The investor built the visit center, where tourists can come and get acquainted with all the tourist routes, as well as to rent, for example, bicycles, some additional services, guides,” Ryspekov said.

Experts are confident that ecotourism is the fastest growing sector of tourism industry. A quarter of trips in the world accounted for this type of recreation. Specialists calculated that the amount of people who want to relax in harmony with nature increases by 20 percent every year.
