Kazakhstan’s trade with Central Asian countries grows by 35 percent

Kazakhstan’s trade with Central Asian countries increased by almost 35 percent. In the first four months of this year alone, it reached more than US$2.3 billion, ‘finprom.kz’ reports. It is in exports that positive trade performance has been achieved. Exports to the Central Asian regional market exceeded imports almost three times. Uzbekistan remains the country’s main trade partner. Correspondingly, two-thirds of the total volume which amounts to nearly US$1.5 billion falls on this neighboring country. Next comes Tajikistan with over US$426 million of trade turnover and Kyrgyzstan with over US$328 million. Turkmenistan is closing the list as the trade turnover with this country amounted to only US$74.6 million. However, that’s a good thing too, because the figure is almost 50 percent higher compared to last year. Overall, in the first four months of 2021, exports from Kazakhstan to Central Asian countries reached US$1.7 billion. In addition, since the beginning of the year, Kazakhstan has imported from the Central Asian region goods worth more than US$624 million.
