Presidents of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan hold talks in expanded format

Ten bilateral documents were signed during the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan. These agreements were reached during the talks of the parties in an expanded format. In particular, they relate to the construction of a trade and logistics hub on the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border, cooperation in agriculture, as well as in the field of aviation search and rescue. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called on to intensify investment cooperation and to create a list of promising projects. One of them may be the joint construction of hydropower facilities at the Kambarata HPP-1. The issues of water diplomacy and strengthening of cooperation in the field of information technologies were also considered. President Tokayev noted the interest of eight Kazakh universities in opening representative offices in Kyrgyzstan. He also announced the increase of student quotas for Kyrgyz students to 50. Following the talks, the Heads of State signed a joint statement. It is aimed at bringing bilateral cooperation to a qualitatively new level, further intensifying the partnership and coordinating actions in the international arena.

“There is no doubt that Kyrgyzstan is the closest state for Kazakhstan in all respects. This year marks 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. During this period, the cooperation horizons have expanded, and our friendship has become even stronger,” Tokayev said.
